To Heart 2 OVA 1

I don’t know much about this series but I decided to pick up the first episode of the OVA because DarkMirage has repeatedly sung Tama-nee’s praises. Like how I was converted to Asa Shigure fandom by her "chotto zannen", I was won over immediately by Tama-nee’s evil, knowing “Mmmmm…? :3″

Bonus points for having a fan club of fangirls. Don’t know if any of them cross the line from akogare to yuri though.

Hmmm… I smell a sad story. No snow though. Will it be worth it to catch the TV series?

Particularly like how Tama-nee’s eyes change when she switches from normal to Evil mode.

Yeah, Yuuji, I’d be crying too if I had a hot blood-related oneesama like Tama-nee.

I really like the way he addresses her as “aneeki” rather than the usual “oneechan” - fits both his cavalier casualness and how a “-chan” or “-san” honorofic doesn’t quite convey the dynamics of the siblings’ relationship. Despite her ever-present tyranny, their closeness was also shown effectively by how Ilfa had passed her training with flying colours when Yuuji thought the miso soup had been cooked by his aneeki.

I can also see why Stripey is a Konomi fan (lolicious figurine incoming for 2007); I guess this also represents the standard division of labour between the Hontou Ni blogs. LOL Personally I find Konomi a bit clueless - but others might find it charming. Though it was really hilarous in the ED when her mom (who looks pretty MILFy) was wondering WTF her daughter was doing dressing up as a maid and fitting on the robot parts to her ears.

While we’re on Stripey’s territory, I couldn’t wonder that it seems that most cases of S.I.S.C.O.N. are actually cases of onii-chan complex on the part of younger sisters. Conversely, cases of oneesama complex by younger brothers seem relatively rare in anime. In addition, my impression is that it is rare for siscon and oneesama fandoms to overlap; not surprisingly as the appeal of the respective subject matter is very different.

Tama-nee says: This is not a cabbage.

    I am siscon for Tama-nee

but yeah, I think the oneesama sect of siscon is a rare compared to the imouto-sect

    Off-topic, but… man, I think Cabbage Love is condemned forever, even if they do a miracle job on the DVD release. ^^; Maybe we should petition KyoAni to remake it and cause a few haters to froth at the mouth. ^^;

    Cheers.

    ADD] Oh, and Suguru’s rant on Cabbage Love is still amongst my Top-5 AnimeBlog entries in terms of hilarity. Top-3 even. ^^;

    Cheers.

lol…that part in the ending credits where Konomi’s trying to go into robot maid mode always makes me laugh. The To Heart 2 TV series was a little disappointing for me–Takaaki is a pretty weak lead, and the animation quality didn’t really let the cast of bishoujo shine (although yes, nothing can be as horrific as Cabbage Love in the ‘let’s make bishoujo look like ass’ department). I thought the OVA did a much better job than the TV series, I think I’ve watched the OVA 3 or 4 times already and it’s still funny. After the TV series I didn’t really get why Tama-nee had such a rabid following, but after the OVA now I understand.

Skane: Thanks–I kind of feel bad about neglecting my blog now, although everyone else’s blogs are much more entertaining to me anyway ^^; I think if I could somehow send a message to myself in the past, but could only tell myself one thing, I’d tell myself for the love of God NOT to watch Yoakena. Then at least I wouldn’t have the memory of Feena/Rambo in my head right now…I’m pretty sure Kyoani would have handled that better (sighs)…

Play the game (either version) and you’ll understand Tama-nee’s awesomeness. Don’t watch the TV series; tis the suck due to animation plus they didn’t really space screen time between all the girls that well. The twins (and maid) got A LOT of screen time (not that I have anything against them, Ilfa is great) that could have been better used on the other girls.

If you want Tama-nee greatness, and still want to watch the TV series, just see like episode 2 and 10/11.

…dammit, you’re making me regret choosing to download Hidamari Sketch over the TH2 OVA.

I’m downloading it when I get back from school. I want to see this. :3

    To Suguru,

One doesn’t need to frequently blog to make it meaningful. ^^; Jeff Lawson of Hop Step Jump! is not exactly a constant poster, but I consider his blog to be one of the more well-respected ones.

So long as you remember to inform people that you are still alive, quality over quantity.

    Cheers.

…as for Tama-nee’s fanclub…some of them do cross over into yuri territory…but the series didn’t cover it at all…

…imoutos are overrated…oneesamas’ where it’s at…isn’t it better for your girl to be a little mature and experienced…hmm…better the enjoyment for all really…

LOL @ “Yeah, Yuuji, I’d be crying too if I had a hot blood-related oneesama like Tama-nee”

Turly, woe to all those who have beautiful sisters!

@ Zzz… “isn’t it better for your girl to be a little mature and experienced…hmm”

heh, just don’t catch anything from her XD

T_I, well said! A fine minority opinion that I’m proud to hold though!

Skane, I love suguru’s rant too, which is why I keep referring to it. It’s a great example of an impassioned and humorous rant that isn’t at the expense of other fans or animebloggers and is actually a pleasure to read and re-read.

suguru and moyism, thanks for your advice, leeching ep 2 right now. Weak harem leads totally ruin the experience for me so it’s probably not worth my while to watch the whole TV series.

The game is a bit beyond me though (memories of SHUFFLE!) - was really exhausting translating all that material.

Zzz…, a real pity - yuri has so much marketing potential! Noir, Kannazuki, StoPani, Simoun. Bakuten would have been red hot if the Jo x Meg angle hadn’t been buried. Oneesama vs imouto - I suspect that there can be significant overlap of the lolicon and imouto-siscon. They’d probably twist your quote to say:

isn’t it better for your little girl to be mature and experienced…

    Bro - heh, just don’t catch rattan from the loli-imoutos, k? :P

I too after seeing the caps for this, I went and downloaded it right away.

I watched it and I LOVED. All for the same reasons as most of you…Tama-Nee-Sama.

I liked her so much that I spent 2.4 gigs of bandwidth to download the TV but after ep 2… I had an ominous feeling so I jumped to 12/13. I deleted the whole thing faster than The FLASH winking.

I hate those kinds of anime…urg.

I kept the OVA though. So different from the TV.
