Pani Poni Dash! 26

From being very cold, it’s now abnormally hot. The school splits into half to reveal a water theme park for great fanservice. However I had expected a rather more madcap finale but it felt strangely fillery. It’s been a mad ride but overall I’m still glad I caught this series as it’s definitely made for the otaku in mind. It’s pretty shocking that it’s been licensed for the US since the jokes are rather obscure and sub-culturally-specific. Maybe they think that if Azumanga Daioh (which relies a lot on Japanese puns for its humour) could do well, maybe the fans will support this too.

Pani Poni Dash! 25

Continuing on from PPD!23, the 1-C Gumi heads out into space onboard Pani Poni X. Anime references galore, particularly from Evangelion. They finally discover that the giant comet is the Ichijou Matsuri, the cardboard box made by our mysterious class representative. They finally defeat it and the Earth is saved. BTW Deep Impact > Armageddon.

Pani Poni Dash! 24

Things pick up with some Edo-style martial arts drama. Magistrate Beikimon is abusing her power with the imposition of a hauhau tax; anyone who cries has to cough up JPY 100 per cry. The 1-C gang, now formed as the Pani Ponin, set out for great justice.

Pani Poni Dash! 23

Felt like a filler episode. First third of the episode revolved around how everyone felt miserable due to the abnormally cold weather. Second third was taken up by Suzune’s hand puppet theatre. Final part was everyone, led by Becky, having a string of unlucky incidents. It’s revealed that the cause is due to a giant asteroid heading towards the Earth.

DOUBLE-BERETTA-FANG-TAN. Yappari the only way to crush a blogging backlog is Blitz Rush!

Ep 22: Revy and Gin take on Chaka and his goons head-on. Rock liberates Yukio with cleaning fluid and a bowling pin. With Revy’s help, Chaka’s gang is easily disposed of. However, Yukio denounces Rock for speaking his homelies while still staying in the twilight. Rock sees another girl claimed by darkness, just like Revy.
