But then again, though love-love rivals for Athrun may be down by one permanently (Operation Meer Shieldo!) and another possibly ("The ring is evil and must destroyed!"), her question might just bring Big Sis back to her senses. Better to keep quiet.

I just wonder why everyone seemed to look surprised at Lacus and Kira there - it’s not like they haven’t been cohabitating for TWO YEARS now; I’d be more surprised if they hadn’t done that…
Also, I don’t think Kira has his officer’s rank anymore, not since he effectively led the crew of the Archangel into rebellion…. not that they weren’t ALREADY rebels because they left before the Cyclops system blew Alaska Base sky-high. However, he does seem to be out of (Orb) uniform there, given he’s cosplaying as a high ZAFT commander there…
Scratch that - he WAS the one who led them out of Alaska Base too…. so technically, he DID lead them into a rebellion against lawful authority, as represented by the coldhearted Atlantic Federation.
Man, Lacus really maneuvered things real well, didn’t she? She got rid of Athrun (as a son of the new Chairman of ZAFT, he may have been a threat, except by shucking him onto Cagalli and on Orb he’s out of the way), she got Kira to lead one of the best ships in the Earth fleet onto her side, got ORB on her side too (through Kira and the others)… and now this.
Emperor Palpatine, eat your heart out - you didn’t look this smoking hot in those robes, and you needed Kinman Dorian to get you into power. ;) I love Lacus.
Finally, SEED Destiny is officially over. Now to wait for the upcoming movie.

I would gladly watch a spin-off series just about Arthur and his daily antics, throw in Yzak and Deeaka for good measure.

Haesslich, Lacus’ whereabouts, much less her relationship with Kira, were not public knowledge - as far as PLANT knew, Lacus and Athrun were still engaged (hence when Meer came to town on a pink love-love Zaku, Dullindal suggested Athrun spend time with his fiancee) - and shortly after Athrun came aboard Minerva, the hangar techs were joking about getting him out of the way. The only ones who weren’t surprised by this scene were the ones definitely in the know - Dearka, Yzak, Athrun, and Meyrin - and those who seem to know, Hilda and Shiho - the last one is interesting, since it alludes to Shiho being rather close to Yzak, and I do like Shiho x Yzak ^^
Dan: They knew she’d gone ‘traitor’ when Patrick Zala started his manhunt for her Clyne faction.. and that afterwards, the Clyne Faction’s people were in power at the end (remembering that Clyne’s allies took over after Patrick Zala got himself killed and GENESIS was destroyed). By that point, Athrun had also buggered off… as did Lacus for that matter. Dullindal created Meer just to make sure people didn’t know she’d gone off to Earth… of course, with Meer’s death that became bloody obvious again that she’d gone out and away from ZAFT.
Of the people there, the ones who SHOULD have been aware of the relationship were as follows: Yzak (he’d fought beside the Clyne faction at the end, and in doing so gained the mojo required to make two Gundam kills in a row), Dearkka (who’d been around to see it blossom), Athrun (he’d amicably ended things with Lacus and got together with Cagalli… even if that didn’t work out), the three Masaumune pilots (AFAIK, they were with the Archangel for a bit, where Kira’s thing with Lacus would’ve been common knowledge), and maybe Meyrin (since she’d been around Athrun the whole time since they defected from ZAFT again).
Mind you, Arthur is the one person there whose stupefied expression fits the character perfectly. ;)
So, are the movies better than the TV series? In this case, I think the movies could actually be an improvement.
