Not a favourite episode of mine despite the delightful pixie game mode. TV crew comes to the school to interview the teacher and students. Everyone is eager for their 15 minutes of fame but something always goes wrong. 1-C thinks they’ve got a winner because of their very unique teacher but Becky unexpectedly reacts badly.

Being interviewed has its dangers, of course. Igarashi-sensei tries to turn it into an advertisement for a husband but the girls ruin it by revealing the side of her that she’d rather not have aired. Igarashi-sensei seems to hold the bad hands dealt to both Yukari (drunk) and Nyamo (neurotic) with their respective redeeming features (devil may care attitude and respectable facade respectively). Personally I think she should join a classic car club to find her Mr Right - at least they’ll have one passion in common.

The explanation from Meido Media who is actually useful (other than harassing Behoimi which is always fun): Being a child genius is tough. Becky hates being made into the freak show circus’ main highlight. The girls are appropriately chatised.

Somehow the whole Akiyama x Shiratori thing seems rather less fun than Kurusu x Serizawa. The joke about the mismatch between the physical statures isn’t quite nasty enough. Neither is Shiratori’s relatively cluelessness which doesn’t quite create enough trouble for Akiyama this time. Lack of any development in their relationship either…

Class 1-C gets their chance but random stuff happens to derail. I guess that’s why I wasn’t so keen on this episode as the ‘random stuff’ in the episode was plenty wacky but it didn’t have such a strong deus ex machina feel of literally descending out of nowhere from the ceiling. The later episodes about the Ichijou Matsuri are a counter-example of how each episode is normally better organized and told.

This joke at the beginning and the end was priceless though with Himeko’s TokiMemo type excuse being oh so sweetly rejected by Becky.
Himeko Candy Candy LOL!!!
True, the whole thing at the end of the interview was so random I didn’t really get it, but the Maple Colors game perspective was just too awesome. “Plain 2″ LOL.
