Lunamaria Corner

Due to lack of luggage space, I could only bring one figurine back to London with me. Without a doubt, it had to be the MegaHouse RAH.DX Lunamaria in mecha pilot outfit. Now she’s the centrepiece of the Lunamaria corner of the apartment and I often glance fondly in her direction when I’m working at my desk. The poster is the loveliest hardcopy picture I possess, courtesy of good ole bro Stripey. I liked its soft water colour texture so much that I actually went to buy a 40 x 30 cm photo frame for it.

Nice bright sunshine but the picture looks just a tad out of focus even though I am using the virtually idiot proof Panasonic DMC-FX7. There’s bit of shadow around her face, arm and torso but having no reflector board or any henchgirls to carry such an item on my behalf, I console myself by saying that the shadows don’t detract too much from the figurine’s loveliness. Also like how the out of focus background seems to swirl around the figurine.

What a lot of difference a lack of natural sunlight makes! All the colours seem muted, less vibrant. But at least the focus is better. Sometimes I think to myself that it would really really cool if there was a 1/8 Zaku Gunner Warrior (Lunamaria Custom) to go with this figurine - complete with openable hatch to the cockpit.

Another one of the saving graces of this figurine’s design is that there’s no need for the obligatory panty shot. As my good brother often protests, it’s not the panty shots or meido per se that he enjoys but the frills and design elements that often just, by sheer coincidence, accompany the above-mentioned. A fine line indeed. Kinda of like Hung’s immortal comment about not being a lolicon but just liking young cute girls. LOL

I, on the other hand, have no qualms about shouting from the rooftops that two of the things that make this figurine so awesome is that she sticks out in all the right places. Which are accentuated by the creases above her ankles, behind her knees, behind her elbows and, of course, on her glorious bum. Skin-tight plugsuits FTW.

Only slight gripe is that the helmet drops off easily, despite the finger depressions in the mould to improve the grip. Which made me very very nervous as I photographing this on a ledge overlooking a not inconsiderable drop down. Wonder if that’s the reason why Moyism is displaying his figurine (12th photo, same model) without the helmet?

    One word:
    D!

Other than that, I think the tightsuit bum is one of the best features too from an art’s point of view.

    Moyism>>>
    nice collection btw.

Cool figurine, and AWESOME poster! Is the poster an original?

Glad you are loving the poster and your bday present! XD I’m guessing the frame is several times the cost of the poster itself? :)

crimson, you sound like School Rumble’s Imadori. LOL

Kabitzin, yeah it’s original official merchandise from a Sunrise license to Sotsu agency. Artist is Y. Fukano.

Stripey, thanks again bro! Frame cost GBP 12.99 - was a bit hard to find because the poster is actually 42 x 30 cm which can’t fit standard 40 x 30 cm frames. Had to find a 40 x 30 cm frame that has got a border i.e. bigger than 40 x 30 cm - this one is 50 x 40 cm.

That poster is definitely frickin’ sweet. Do I spy a Lunamaria autograph on it as well? Sure to be worth a fortune if she ever kicks the bucket.

    Is Lunar-sama (?) that good?

Tell me so and I will go download all 100 eps of SEED just to see her.

    Me swear.

Ender: I thought I came pretty close to reaping that profit in GSD Ep 50 if not for Athrun’s intervention. ;)

Demon Eyes: Well, I really enjoyed her screen presence as a character until about GSD Ep 38/39. I think Karmaburn said it best: Lunamaria…NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!
