Pani Poni Dash! 15

I hate spammers. Thanks to everyone who wrote in to let me know. I’m AFK intermittently for the next 10 days.

The episode starts in the middle, jump to the front as well as cutting in scenes from 1-D but revolving around the central theme of the 1-C bus hanging over a cliff edge a la the Italian Job’s cliffhanger finale. The scene transitions make use of freezing the closing scene as a page on a book and then flipping the page to the next scene.

We have a concert to promote the release of Roulette Roulette just before the OP.

From the beginning of the school excursion, we’re shown the midst of the crisis without any build-up so it did come as a bit of a surprise. Kurumi moves her fine fine behind a few times throughout the episode and Rokugou does the Sharon Stone leg-crossing homage though the latter did absolutely nothing for me aside from sniggering at the reference. There’s two Call of Cthulhu references in this episode which were quite funny too.

We’re brought up to speed on what led to this current situation. A gun-wielding robber boards the bus but is embroiled in a fierce argument with Becky who is protecting her students. He gets brought down by (who else?) Ichijou. However the bus is then inexplictably chased by a trailer and ends up stuck on a knife’s edge on the cliff. Everyone is trying not to move to prevent the bus from tipping over into the sea.

A few gags along the way, with a sem-yuri scene of Rokugou being tasked by Becky to stop Himeko from upsetting the balance.

There’s the whole dramatic scene of summoning and deploying Robousa. Which turns out to be absolutely useless.

Momose-ani gets appointed to the Igarashi Council by Twin acclaim as he’s so good at looking after their teacher when she’s having a hangover.

More Suzune x Otome. Of course, the former just to torment the latter about her height or lack thereof.

Himeko’s hunger ends up summoning a giant crab.

And Ichijou’s sister restores things to the status quo. Becky grumbles that she could have saved the day definitively by getting the crab to put the bus back on the road but given what her elder sister’s record is like, at least she didn’t make it worse! LOL

All’s well that ends well. Not. But although the bus does eventually fall into the sea and explode like a nuclear bomb, the entire group is rescued unharmed. And it turns out that the book being flipped throughout the episode to denote the scene transitions was Otome’s magazine. LOL
