Pani Poni Dash! 12

This episode centres on the theme of dreams. In the first half, Becky is confronted by the realization that she does not have a dream. In the second half, due to alien interference, the gang gets transported into Himeko’s dream. It works quite well as the Japanese word for “dream” also has the dual connotations of the English word. There’s also plenty of delicious cruelty among the girls as a result.

Kurumi gets humiliated for expressing her family-transmitted belief in the futility of dreams.

Himeko unwittingly hits on Becky’s weak point of being called childish.

But that doesn’t stop her from sticking one into Kurumi while she’s wallowing in her misery.

Ichijou’s finishing move.

I’m not much of a Miyako fan but I do love the idea of Yui Horie playing a cynical character.

A strong device from the Galaxy Shopping Channel, a malfunction and Himeko dreamland…

Besides changing Becky’s outfits, I also like how the series changes the eyecatches.

Lots of stuff happens… including sharks’ fin soup.

They finally find the Dreamer…

…lay the smackdown on that annoying guy…

…and awaken at last.

The moral of the story is: The status quo is ok if you’re a genius! orz
