Strawberry Panic 16

It’s the day of the cultural festival and the performance of Carmen. Our dastardly duo, Kaname and Momomi, tries to sabotage the rehearsals and Amane’s heel but all their evil schemes come to naught due to the combination of Shizuma and Nagisa’s interventions. Nagisa was actually not irritating for once and she played Carmen with suitable aplomb.

I had no idea how they managed to pull off the Romeo and Juliet play with Kagome serenading Oshibaru instead of Tsubomi who does make a cute Juliet.

Chikaru is soooo hot when she’s being evil.

Yaya’s hat makes her getup look like Hecate’s.

So that person at the window at the end of the previous episode was indeed Tamao. It serves the plot point that she realizes that Nagisa’s helping out in Shizuma’s rehearsals had the side effect of our heroine learning all of Carmen’s lines. This is all awfully convenient and I’m surprised that Chikaru didn’t have an understudy - but then again, this “no understudy” plot device is also liberally applied elsewhere e.g. Mel Brook’s The Producers.

Looks like Erica got part of her wish. Someone finally does stab Nagisa. Though it’s only playacting and not fatal. LOL

Will be interesting to see how long more Yaya will pine and look forlornly at Hikari x Amane going from strength to strength. Will she snap a second time?

    Chikaru earn herself a lot of fans with her evil look.

    Just check the animesuki thread. Almost a entire page devoted to how hot Chikaru looks in this ep.

    It’s true Chikaru is the BEST. Nagisa not bad too. Her evil eyes are scary though ;P

    I just interpret this episode as Nagisa and Etoile are falling in love. Next week’s ep is my long waited episode. I want to know why Etoile love her dead lover so much also how Nagisa take it. Or a little proof that those two is in relationship or in love with each other. Ohh jealous Nagisa is what I hope to as we all have seen jealous Etoile.

    OK comment on the play, the play was very good. The lighting is impressive o.O I’m disappointed that they did not exploit Kagome as Romeo at all. Just few seconds isn’t enough to laugh.

    I’m disapointed by this episode… sure its good, but episode fifteen was so much better..

    Although the narrator for this episode was Chikaru, she was not the main focus this time round. In fact, none of the girls were. Instead, this episode covered more about the mutual co-operation between the three schools for the school festival. Ending shot this time round was Nagisa in her Carmen garb.

    Lack of character focus meant little attention paid to Tamao, but what scenes we had with Tamao, were all particularly telling. That said, we move on to Ep16 of the Suzumi Tamao Conspiracy,
    ~~~~ ~~~~
    With so little screentime dedicated to Tamao, I am going to follow a point format instead of an essay one.
    ..) We get confirmation in this episode that Tamao was the shadow that lurks behind windows. Oooo… feel the vibes, baby. No thanks to the Evil Lesbian Duo(ELD), Tamao’s plans for school domination faced jeopardy. Then Shizuma pointed out Nagisa to be her replacement. This created a dilemma for Tamao, as evidenced by her sudden watery eyes( straight after the window scene, 17:24 onwards).
    Should she agree and risk the relationship between Shizuma and Nagisa to develop further? Or should she scuttle her plan for school domination?
    Ah… decisions, decisions. In the end, Tamao settled for extreme short-term pain, for the payoff of long-term gain. But she is not happy about it. Not happy about it AT ALL.
    At the end of the play, when the rest of the crew were congratulating Shizuma and Nagisa, guess who was missing from the crowd? E-yup, Tamao was not amongst them, having disappeared out of sight… probably stabbing a voodoo doll of Shizuma in some dark room or such.
    Then we see a shot of her looking melancholic at the campfire. She was probably asking herself whether she made the right choice.
    Hang in there, Tamao! You can do it! Gogo, Tamao, go!
    Other points of interest,
    ..) The Spica Student Council President was the bull that Amane fought with…
    ..) Why did the ELD sought to sabotage the play? Amane was no longer in any lead roles. What possible benefit could they reap from wrecking it?
    ..) Will Tamao seek revenge on the ELD?
    ~~~~ ~~~~

    Cheers. Onwards to Ep17!

    Oh yeah… one more point to add…

    Tamao almost revealed her spying antics when she pushed Nagisa to be Carmen. Awfully lucky for her that nobody asked how come she knew Nagisa had memorised all of Carmen’s lines. :P

    Cheers.
