


Becky learns why it’s important to get the names of her students right. All the same, the nicknames are pretty good and really helped me to learn the characters’ names. And it’s a good sign that I can actually remember the main characters’ names by the second episode - shows that I’ve been able to engage with the anime.
Minor empirical question: Sayaka Suzuki has ended up with two nicknames as her usual one is “Rokugo” meaning No.6 - there are various accounts as to why this is her nickname, ranging from being No.6 on the class attendance register to it being bestowed by Igarashi-sensei for being the sixth Sayaka Suzuki (is it a common name like John Smith?) that she’s taught. Not a current series but I’ve only just finished watching it (subs by Oyasumi up to 18 and by gg up to 24 out of 26 episodes so far). Decided for an episode by episode posting format because there are quite a few disparate elements within it that I enjoyed. Primary character referents include Himeko’s one-sided affection for Rebecca Miyamoto (Becky), the oneesama-ness of Rei Tachibana, Suzune Shiratori x Otome Akiyama. A recurring in this series that got me hooked was also how cruel the cast could be to each other; primary victims being Becky, Mesousa and Kurumi Momose. Continue reading ‘Pani Poni Dash! 1′
