The Meidoconholy of Stripey III (hnKd 3/2006)

“Asking for it.” Request of something e.g. the purchase of a maid uniform. Also a colloquial expression used to describe the act of getting oneself into trouble and deserving the consequences. In this case, the offer to purchase a maid uniform. Though I’m no gentleman, my word has been given and four horses hard to chase it. In addition, once enthrusted with the Three Sizes, a man has to see his mission to its end. The road to hell is paved with good intentions but as my intentions are never good…

On the purchase of meidofuku, there are plenty of considerations. The two biggest considerations, often a tradeoff between one and the other, are general aesthetics and price. It’s always a difficult choice when having to choose between the Hisui and Kohaku uniforms when you appreciate the context - they’re a set, a pair. On the other hand, not only do you need double the moolah to buy both uniforms of the elegant brown and white team (though Kohaku’s traditionally themed uniform costs marginally more), you also need the beginnings of a harem for them to be worn simultaneously. In the end, the combination of price, look, stitching quality, comfort of the fabric, thoughtful and tasteful little frills that led to a purchase bearing a resemblence to that much beloved Ayako Kawasumi avatar, Mahoro Andou. Said evil plan relies on the assumption of “Yet so near, yet so far.” Mweheheh.

So you bought it? Let’s have some pictures if you did. But real life maid costumes look terrible right? Really bulky and unflattering.

Standard rule - no phototaking allowed in the Akiba shops. And after shop-wrapping, I didn’t open the package. So no photos at my end. Of course, photos could only exist if any of these events actually occurred. ;)

On the whole, yes, many meidofuku are downright awful. But you can always find some real gems with nice fabric, stitching, composition and cutting. And there’s no shortage of choice in Akiba or even Harajuku.

I’d prefer Stripey to die of pure shame.

Stripey could learn to lie through his teeth, desperation would inspire som e creative spinning on his part to avoid death. You didn’t try it on did you?

They come in pairs, so that both guy and gal can put them on. ;)

  7. 7 Not-Stripey

Zyl did not give this to Stripey.

Hmmm… somehow my memory imagination of it was that it was that the blue wasn’t quite so dark.

I’m trying to imagine the consequences if the Hisui/Kokahu set HAD been bought and given to Stripey… :D “You got a pair? Did you expect to wear the other one or get me to find someone to put it on for you?”
