Anytime less = compassion. Shirou should have forced Saber to stay in his world somehow and made her as one of his elite maids. Perhaps, Shirou shared my view but was just powerless to bring that into effect afterall? Saber did go poof almost the instant the mission was completed. Well, that was supposed to be the better ending. People from different timelines (i think?) cant really stay together for long and it was kinda mutual. Think of it..as a noble ending. Realise that Saber wasnt dead (if you follow the gameplot) in her existance yet when she became a servant. So being a servant was actually an (extraordinary?) experience for her perceptions as what she calls...a dream that seems inspiring.
