hontou ni sou omou?

The cold war between Yuuma and Ayano continues. The latter was dumb enough to believe Momoka’s whispering campaign while the former is pissed that her best friend was dumb enough to believe Momoka’s whispering campaign. Eriko decisively and incisively dispels Momoka’s scheme. Later the evil imouto seems to get her just desserts for playin’ the field but is saved by Eriko and Kouda’s boke/tsukkomi act and the arrival of Oneechan. Who lays the smackdown on her. The two sisters understand each other better and have an indirect reconciliation. Momoka’s true nature comes out, mainly against Kouda and it’s buckets of fun.

Some might be of the view that Yuuma was prolonging the cold war unnecessarily and that she should have defended herself instead of remaining silent. However I think her reaction was a very appropriate and effective one. Firstly, it prevents escalation because a heated confrontation might results in harsh words being said that would damage the friendship even more. Secondly, speaking up wouldn’t really help. Ayano clearly believes that Yuuma was responsible for the rumour which reduces the utility of any attempt by Yuuma to clear the air. Yuuma’s denials might even make things worse as Ayano would not just be angry at the rumour but that the perceived perpetrator had the cheek not to own up. Thirdly, Yuuma was keeping the faith in her friends to help turn things around later and in Ayano coming to her senses on her own.

I thought Momoka’s sarcastic characterisation of Yuuma’s actions as “hero of justice” was hilarous, particularly since it reminded me of Shirou Emiya. The Eriko x Kouda comedy duo worked nicely too. What I would like to see more of is Yuuma x Ayano insinuation, particularly from Ayano’s family and Shimotakani.
