Black Lagoon 1-2

There were so many things against this series, going by my book. Clichéd plot - ordinary guy gets caught up in extraordinary events that changes his life and outlook. Pastiche of a main character that, from the OP, is clearly expected to carry the series - Levy being a pirate (One Piece?), hot chick with weapons (GITS?), custom handguns (Hellsing?) with Mr T wearing Batou range of designer eyewear and Kururu in a Hawaiian shirt riding shotgun. But I still really enjoyed these two episodes and both female characters thusfar have been so hot. Continue reading ‘Black Lagoon 1-2′

Girl’s High 1-2

I’m categorizing this series as “Girl’s High” rather than “High School Girls” or “Joshi Kousei” because the latter set just forcibly reminds me of Kimura’s spontaneous and creepily heartfelt answer to Tomo’s question of: “Why did you become a teacher?” 女子高生とか好きだから~~!!! ( ‘cuz I like high school girls and stuff!) orz

Ep 1. Eriko and Kouda are idiots. (Mikuru twirly finger gesture) Went to Forbidden Planet to browse the first volume and the focus is rather different but, given the onus on character introduction (vs. the insider-outside contrast), the anime’s structure is understandable. Don’t Tell Maria-sama! Haru 1-2

Don’t Tell Maria-sama!

This DVD omake and special is done in NG out-takes with a SD animation style. They weren’t really that funny but the animation was cute and for me, the funniest lines actually came from the oyaji tone of the "director". Continue reading ‘Don’t Tell Maria-sama!’

MariMite 13

Yumi’s panic turns out to be much ado about nothing but given it’s her first date I was disinclined to be overly harsh on her. After last episode’s tutoring of Sachiko in the ways of window shopping and fast food, she now takes the lead in helping Sachiko purchase rustic peasant clothes known as “blue jeans” while Shimako and Yoshino come to a typically enigmatic White Rose mutual understanding and Yoshino finds the resolve not to be Buffalo Bill. The series ends on an appropriately sweet note over tea and cake for Yumi, Sachiko, Yoshino, Tsutako and Minako, a tender reunion between Shimako and Sei as well as a typically emotional exchange between Yoshino and Rei.
