MariMite 1

Retro-blogging another yuri series, Maria-sama ga Miteru (The Virgin Mary is Watching), after previous retro-blogathons of Kannazuki and Yamibou. Might take a while to complete it though. This episode begins in the middle and we’re filled in along the way. Chronologically, Yumi gets her scarf re-done by her idol, Sachiko. Tsutako snaps a picture and will give it to Yumi on the condition she helps get permission from Sachiko to display it at the school photo exhibition. They are met by Shimako at the Rose Mansion, headquarters of the Lilian Girls’ School Student Council - the Mountain Lilies Council (Yamayurikai). Sachiko literally runs into Yumi and immediately wants to declare her as her soeur.

This is a dream come true for Yumi except that it seems Sachiko is only doing so to get out of having to perform in the school festival alongside the student council president of the neighbouring and equally posh boys’ school, Hanedara Academy. So she does the unthinkable and refuses to swallow her pride, not accepting Sachiko’s rosary. But she still wants to help her idol. Rosa Gigantea (Sei) proposes a bet: Sachiko can drop the role if she can get Yumi to become her soeur at which point Yumi will take over the role. Leaving school, Sachiko tells Yumi that she will definitely make Yumi her bitch soeur.

Screencaps are Sei-centric. Konno Oyuki sensei (author of the original MariMite novels) has reportedly been quoted as saying that Sei being one’s favourite character is like saying the sky is blue. :) Continue reading ‘MariMite 1′

Blood+ 15

Tidying up the HDD so am screencapping and posting on the main thing in blood+ that interests me i.e. Saya x Kaori. Lately I’ve only been paying cursory attention to the series via the Omni Early Warning System just in case Kaori pops up again. Still fingers-crossed that Kaori will survive to the end of the series and she’ll give Saya a (non-meronpan) gohobi. :) Continue reading ‘Blood+ 15′

Fate/Stay Night 11

What a prick! If Shirou hadn’t woken up his idea and didn’t do what he did, I think I might have come within two inches of dropping the series in disgust since it’s hard to enjoy a series when you utterly detest the main character. It is thus with great relief that the series seems to have gotten out of its rut. The pace has picked up and Shirou is not so useless or pigheaded anymore. Continue reading ‘Fate/Stay Night 11′

Kashimashi 10

Yasuna proposes the Love Alliance (cf Onegai Twins) to Tomari - maintain the status quo so as to not hurt Hazumu by forcing her to choose between them. On this basis, Tomari says that she trusts Yasuna to maintain the alliance when she gets to go a date with Hazumu to Sea World. True to her word, Yasuna restrains herself despite the romantic atmosphere of the undersea tunnel of luurve. Big misunderstanding arises when Tomari thought she saw Yasuna and Hazumu kissing (while waiting for her to come get her souvenir at the train station near Tomari’s training area). During a late night walk, Tomari tells Hazumu about her feelings and they kiss. However Yasuna sees them and activates her Valkyrie GEM to flatten Tomari with the Dance of Valhalla. Continue reading ‘Kashimashi 10′

Keroro Gunso 101

This was my episode of the week. Not the series with huge followings this season i.e. Fate/Stay Night 11 (which hopefully will begin to pick up) or Mai Otome 23 (~And now, the end is near, And so we face the final curtain.~). Heck, even Kashimashi has been more consistent. Upon Jason’s suggestion, I browsed Vol.10 of the manga at the local Forbidden Planet and while I could see the dramatic potential of the Keron Platoon arc, I was still thinking: “How dramatic can it be? Afterall, this is still a frog comedy!” Boy, did this episode prove me wrong. Continue reading ‘Keroro Gunso 101′
