The Hot Summer Day episode. And I’m so happy that r0r1p0p subbed the rest of the series - was a little despondent when the other groups stopped at around Ep 5. I was humming and singing the chorus of that lollipop song to myself for a while. -_-;;

Nobue-oneesama is always a real treat to watch. She’s my favourite character of this series and IMHO she’s the character that ties the rest of the cast together. Chika and Miu form one clique while Matsuri and Ana are the ‘other’ group but all four of the girls look up to Nobue who plays the roles of minder, chaperon, treater, instigator and partner-in-crime all roled into one.

Her laidback attitude and non-honours student habits (smoking and drinking) wouldn’t normally make her a good choice for a role model but she does genuinely care for the girls and enjoys their company. Mohammad has argued that Nobue and Miu don’t have a yuri relationship and this fits his view that the overarching theme of the show is childhood innocence. However I tend towards Erica’s interpretation, that is, Miu is crushing on Nobue (more than just sisterly feelings) and Nobue is pretty moé about the girls especially Matsuri, then Ana. There’s this faint perviness about Nobue that makes her an interesting character though it is kept fairly ambiguous and is not overplayed (*coughKashimashicough*) until it becomes an absurd turn-off.

This scissors-paper-stone fight between Chika and Miu was just a riot. Reminded me so much of Rock, Paper, Saddam! though of course, coming from Sg, I think that the My’an Rojaks version is just waaaaay funnier.

This was one of my favourite scenes of this episode and the whole series. I just think how marvellous it would have been if I could have done what Miu did during one of those gawd awful work meetings when a superior says something really dumb and annoying. And just who is Mr Moustache??
