And so “Hand of Gory” is now “hontou ni sou omou” (本当ã«ãã†æ€ã† - You really think so?) - too lazy to change the sub-directory name or favicon though. I’d been thinking about renaming this blog for a while and decided to take the suggestion that emerged from my teleconversation with Stripey today. (I hate how he’s usually right about so many things but that’s another story. :P)
Was a bit concerned that the names of our blogs would be too similiar but it’s quite fitting since we’ve always loved discussing anime and that we also share the same domain [with the humanities student being web bitch rather than the engineering student har har]. The name of his blog comes from Minawa’s catchphrase from Mahoromatic 2 while mine comes from one of Asa’s killer phrases. My favourite Asa phrase, showcasing Miki Itou’s vocal hawtness, was “chotto zannen” (I’m a bit disappointed) but the congruence of the former phrase was irresistable.
My good brother Stripey was, for a long time, my anime crack provider while I resisted using BT - until the lure of Lunamaria Hawke made the wait unbearable. A most memorable prank of his was to pass me just Eps 1 and 2 of KimiNozo - after which he was subjected to so many obscenties in three languages and one dialect that he had to drive over to my place to surrender the rest of the Kiminozo episodes. LOL His shining example and many a good conversation over a bowl of noodles led me onto the anime blogging path.
Most grateful for the warmth and camaraderie of the anime blogging community - in particular, Kabitzin kindly allowing me use his art for my banner and Moyism lending his l33t photoshop skillz to clean up my initial shoddy attempt. Also some anime blogs also had a significant impact on my style and organization. The old name was meant for a general, all-subjects blog but I eventually decided to split the general blog and the anime blog in Jul 2005. Stripey pointed out that most readers of anime blogs should reasonably expect to read about anime-related stuff on an anime blog and not other stuff. Also I wanted to be shifted from the “Anime Resources” to the “Anime Blogs” section of the Sea Slugs! blog roll - which happened within 24 hours of the secession without me even asking! :)
Drew some precendence and advice from Jason’s Dos and Don’ts. Although “hontou ni sou omou” is not the most descriptive of blog titles, at least it’s more related to anime than the previous one and is a sort of mission statement - to be a little bit contrarian when it comes to discussing anime. Ganbarimasu!
OMG hahahaha you noticed????? Name changed!
I like your new title! It’s very catchy. =)
BTW, Hontou ni Taihen Desu also uses the equiX theme…
Umm… Unless you add a question mark at the end of that, your blog title sounds more like “I really think so.”
Kabitzin - fear the allseeing link whoring of Zyl!!! Tks!
kawaii - Thanks! Actually I was thinking of a one-word Japanese title like yours but Stripey’s suggestion proved irresistable. (trs - so that I can blame him later if I change my mind. :P)
jason - Yes, we were both recommended it by a mutual friend though we decided to operate on separate sub-dirs instead of a Sea Slugs! or Wakaranai style joint-blog because he wanted to customise his theme with a wider post column (to accomodate his 3 screencap-wide format) and fly a loli-banner. LOL But actually it was because of blogger migration messiness.
SaiyaJedi - yes, very good point but i’m not really a fan of punctuation marks in titles. The added ambiguity (for those who don’t make the connection to Asa’s phrase) is also quite fun for me. heheheh.
Well I suppose “Bros of the same fetishes, blog together” :P If you go “Chotto zannen”, I could change my blog to “Zangoku desu” or “Tsurai desu” LOL!
