Hazuki and Lilith arrive on an island and meet a young girl, Miruku, her white tiger and the demoness Seiren. Miruku, like Sakura Yoshino of Da Capo, does not age and suffers from peri peri (mind quakes) that rend the landscape but then disappear when they subside. At the end of the episode, the quakes are shown to be related to the Great Library. Hazuki dives into the sea to try and save Miruku.

The interaction between Hazuki and Miruku reminded me of Azumanga Daioh on several levels. Miruku riding the tiger reminded me of Chiyo riding Tadakichi-san. Miruku’s questions about love and males left Hazuki in a Sakaki-like loss for words (when Chiyo was demanding the return of her height).

Ken-chan having Onsokumaru moments here by talking about breasts and then prevented from talking about sex to Miruku. And then goading a stuck Seiren to take off her dress in front of him in order to catch Lilith without her hat on in the bath.

Yamibou precedes KannaMiko of course - this scene has a small echo with Himeko’s request to spend the night with Chikane in KnM 10 without the whole sexual attraction thing though. Again, this shows Hazuki’s tender and motherly side to balance her mad-for-Hatsumi side.

So we find out that the little dude in the hat suit in the Great Library is called Kogechibi. Still no idea what his or her role in the library is other than to cause mischief. We also learn that the condition of books in the Great Library can affect the worlds that they are supposedly the backups (or manifestations?) for.
