Mai Otome 10

Arika: “I’m warning you, SUNRISE! Mai had better not come back and snatch away my star billing!”

1. I was surprised by Haruka’s requirement for Yukino’s activation. Shizuru certainly didn’t seem to need that in her Ep 3 fight with Rad. Perhaps different forms of permission - ad hoc vs. always-on?

2. Aren’t Master and Otome supposed to be linked? Yukino certainly didn’t seem to be adversely affected by Gakutenou swatting Haruka aside, long enough to knock her out for the rest of the fight. Maybe it’s the Yuri Globe of Invulnerability!

3. So who is Shizuru’s precious person? Her master (F.H.) or Natsuki? If it came down to the line, where would her loyalty lie? (BTW the preview dialogue between Midori, Natsuki and Shizuru was hilarous - Wan! Pero pero pero!)

Warning: The Surgeon General advises that extended use of the REM system may cause your veins to bulge out and could eventually lead to cyborg conversion. Of the unsexy bulky metallic armour type, not the Motoko Kusanagi type.

Very relieved that Ers-chan wasn’t bumped off. Yet. Still worried that she’ll be the Akane Sacrificial Lamb of the Corals later on. Especially as it seems that she and Arika have become closer as a result of the hike. I didn’t notice how Ers-chan practically jumped into Arika’s arms during their reunion until I was screencapping the scene for this post. You can see that Ers-chan initiating the hug and Arika even looking a wee bitty bit surprised before just going with the flow. Also when between the hug and the hand holding, Ers-chan held her face awfully close to Arika’s. A shift in feelings from Nina to Arika in the offing perhaps? :3

This goes to show that Haruka isn’t one of the 5 Pillars. The Pillars do not need masters to activate their GEMs. They can do it themselves. Apart from that, it seems they can give permission to Corals (Maybe even to Pearls) to activate their GEMs. And also take note Yukariko doesn’t seem to need a master to activate her robes. So my speculation now is…. Yukariko -> One of the Pillars?

Has the Pillar system been mentioned directly in the anime yet?

About Yukariko, it would make sense to concentrate the Pillars in the neutral institution which is the fountainhead of Otomes as instructors. If Yukariko is in (anyone know her fancy title btw?), then Natsuki and Ms Maria could also be possible Pillars?

It hasn’t been mentioned how the Pillar system works, but they did say who are the confirmed Pillars, and so far, they’re Natsuki and Shizuru (Confirmation is also found in the official website). Recent speculations observed that Pillars may have a special master, like Shizuru’s “F.H”, and it’s not certain whether that master is even a human being (Hence, why they can activate their robes on their own without relying on another person).

Yes, it does make sense if they station the Pillars at Gaulderobe, and if possible have them work as instructors. However, one thing managed to pique my curiosity…. Where was Shizuru before Natsuki summoned (LOL, I can see the Shizuru->Duran trend here) her to return to Gaulderobe, or Windbloom for that matter? Does she have a position which required her to work outside of the country?

Hmm…. It has yet to be seen whether Miss Maria is one of the Pillars. LOL, it’d be well amusing to see her in a robe. I don’t mean to sound sarcastic but I just can’t imagine her wearing one, even if she is a Meister. XD

F.H. is Fumi (don’t know her surname), the first Otome and she’s a Master for all Pillars, as I heard.
