Everything that Nao has done so far (setting her thugs on the seller of Arika’s uniform, rescuing the girls from the tentacle monster) has had a double edge to it i.e. while she’s being helpful, she expects repayment in the form of a future favour - told Nina and Arika that "You owe me one, again." in Ep 6. And that in both instances, it was in her interest to act anyway - defending the Juliet Gang’s turf and authority in the uniform case and having an opportunity to gloat at Shiho as well as to visibily discharge her Oneesama duties in the tentacle monster case.
Even so while she’s got a cool and hard exterior, complemented with that oh-so sharp, stinging and piercing tongue, I suspect that she’s got her heart in the right place just like in Mai HiME where her main redeeming point was her love for her mother. I wonder if her propensity for not being understood by others and not really wanting to be understood anyway will lead to another tragic repetition of the situation in Mai HiME when she was framed by Yukariko and her partner.
Yea I agree with you, Nao does have her heart in the right place, but the only thing is she does it her way. Which sometimes can be problematic, because her actions sometimes don’t seem justified.
If Mai Otome will take a dark twist like Mai Hime did, than I can’t see Nao “living” through it. It seems as though instead of only thinking about numero uno, this time she has more of a compassionate/caring side to her. “Love, liking, loving someone…when there’s nothing but yourself that you can believe in!” Maybe she will sacrifice her happiness for Arika and Nina later on.

Now that you mention it, Problematic, I can just imagine those karaoke cosplay scenes from Mai HiME but instead of the Mardi Gras getup, Nao will be in a pin-striped 1960s suit plus fedora hat and singing that Ol’ Blue Eyes‘ signature song, My Way. Pretty cool and sexy Nao, huh? ^_^
Frank Sinatra? @_@’ LOL! 60’s? Waahhh..
Haha that would be awesome to see. If only I knew who he was. JK
When I attended my cousin’s wedding dinner (my first time at such a wedding dinner), they were playing “Fly Me To The Moon” for the second march-in and I was thinking to myself, “Cool, I didn’t know that my cousin or her husband were fans of the Evangelion OST.” LOL. Now everytime I hear that song, I just imagine an upside down spinning Rei Ayanami silhouette. -_-;;
