Honoka-chan anxiously waits at the station after learning that Yamato and Suzuka didn’t return last night as the former said he would. Suzuka walks away and the couple have a very public display of affection. Later Honoka-chan cooks for him but Yasunobu’s stupid suggestion earlier (proving Mentar right) in the day triggers a massive hormonal surge that wipes out what little that is left of Yamato’s already minuscle common sense. Quite a high yuck factor in this episode due to Yamato’s beastly, if somewhat understandable and typically impulsive, behaviour. At least he went to apologize to her quickly. Omni also felt fairly neutral about this episode and his comparisons with the more explicit factors from the manga, that did not carry into the anime, bolstered my understanding of the dynamics of this episode immensely.
And this series certainly has got a repeating hand-focus motif. Check them out amid the 70+ screencaps that follow: Continue reading ‘Suzuka 16′

What can I say? Absolutely fabulous, darlings! Excellent blend of good story-telling (including OP and ED time), beautiful beautiful animation, humour and character development. I might have found Sousuke’s sudden power-up a bit over the top but watching too much Kira Yamato in GSD has numbed me to this kind of thing. Also, dealing with an enraged Kaname is certainly much more frightening compared to fighting five Cordarl ASs and facing down the MITHRIL governing council. Would have liked more of Mao-neesan but am content with the evening dress in Ep 5. Two thumbs up for Kyoto Animation!! d_(^_^)_b
Screencaps concentrate on Chidori beating up Sousuke and Tessa’s Happy Little Dance. Head over to Random Curiosity for a proper summary and full range of screencaps: Continue reading ‘FMP! TSR 13′

Phew! Finally caught up! The firefly-in-flower thing was absolutely gorgeous and so romantic. And the scene parallels the one in the OP - with the latter showing the red thread which many Northeast Asian cultures use to depict the fated love between a couple. Feel so sorry for Honoka-chan but she’s put up a good fight, now all that remains to see how she’ll lose Yamato and how badly she’ll be hurt. Sigh.

Yamato and Honoka-chan are now officially a couple. The rest of the gang finds out - Ninja Miki overhears, Yasunobu observes and Daimyo Suzuka Asahina is reluctantly informed of this latest development by her faithful, beautiful but unfortunately no-yuri-crush-on-her camo-lovin’ shinobi spy. Honoka-chan confesses to stalking Yamato and later gives him a token to mark him as her property. However events intervene and tests Yamato’s resolve while fraying Honoka-chan’s nerves.
While I do broadly agree that Yamato being a chump by treating Honoka-chan as a consolation prize, I also can’t get too peeved with him since it is well-established that he reacts to the immediate situation without thinking about its consequences. Also after being rejected thrice already, he has started to see Suzuka as being out of reach with her serious attitude towards the regional tournament and her third place 173 cm high jump.

This was the episode that caused me to jump onto the bandwagon. More appropriate title might have been: Honoka Strikes! Sub-title: And the attack of the bukkake carp. Further note: At the pond, Honoka-chan says, "Koi ireu deshou?" which means "There are carp here, aren’t there?" but "koi" is also a synonym for "love".
I also particularly enjoyed Ren and Kabitzin’s comments on Suzuka and Honoka’s fashion styles.
