Nagi pwns Mashiro in political battle. The latter seems about as politically adept as Cags in GSD. Arika battles Nina while Shizuru battles Rado. Everyone loves Shizuru. On the yuri front, in contrast to Shizuru Fujino, Shizuru Viola is openly grabby and gratituously touchy-feely with Arika which seems to be her way of flirting with and teasing Natsuki. On the other hand, Natsuki Kruger, now the respectable Headmistress, can hardly seem to hide her annoyance/jealousy. Woot!
While some fans are shaking their fists at SUNRISE for completely remaking Mashiro’s demeanour, I find her brattiness quite fun especially since she is such a moron. But her alarm at Arika being smashed into the arena wall by Nina and her subsequent relief that Arika is alright points to the strong possibility that she’s basically not a bad kid. While her relief might have stemmed not wanting to be defeated by Nagi’s Otome, the softness of that portrayal seems to suggest otherwise. In any case, from the OP, it looks like Arika, Nina and Mashiro will form a close bond spiced with friendly rivalry and mild mutual irritation in the mould of the Mai-Mikoto-Natsuki axis of hijinks in Mai HiME.
