My impressions from the Blood movie were mixed - liked the action but felt that the backstory was severely underdeveloped and the plot was rather "Huh?" Still, given that I’m a big fan of Production IG’s TV series (most recently, GITS SAC: 2nd Gig), I thought I’d give this series a try. And what finally lured me here like a bee to honey was the potential for something yurilicious between Saya and Kaori. Mweheheh. The vibes between the two are, well, promising. Very touchy-feely. The footsie was cute and Kaori’s nicking of a grain of rice off the side of Saya’s mouth was oh so casual. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a gay anime girl… probably MariMite’s Sei Satou and Mai HiME’s Shizuru Fujino. Somehow the sexual orientation of DC/DCSS’s Miharu Amakase and 2×2=Shinobuden’s Shinobu feel more like running gags than real characters…
Anyhow, plenty of violence but no sword action from Saya yet. And it appears that Shinji Ikari has graduated to vampire mentor and has learnt to play something other than Pachelbel’s Canon in D. (Good grief, I feel like such an old man for being able to remember that particular nugget.) About music, loved the ED, Kataritsugu Koto by Chitose Hajime - haven’t hear something so captivating since Samurai Champloo’s ED, Shiki no Uta.
At this time, not sure if I’ll blog this series. Maybe just the yuri bits if there’s any more of that.

Shinji Ikari is from Evangelion, it was just a joking reference to a famous old anime - Shinji plays the violincello and isn’t anything like the character here. The Blood+ violincello guy is Haji - which you can see his name, from the credits, in katakana under Saya.

Oh…got my hopes up Zyl :P, but still we have a name so its all good. Haha I find new things about Hagi everyday and instead of making a fool of myself I wish I had known that earlier. LOL

Dammit! I knew they would have the obvious pairing of Saya and Kai. Be glad that if the show is to be 52 episodes long, there’s no way their relationship can be steady for that long, it just wouldn’t be interesting. How dare they fight the inevitable inclusion of yuri in every anime series. Mai HiME welcomes it, and look how popular that got. I.G needs to set its priorities right ;)
