Lunamaria Hawke: I wanted to talk to Shinn about the Chairman’s Destiny Plan but Rey told me to get lost. I went to the hangar to mope and stare at the Gundams. I think I am turning into Athrun. Later the Great FAITH strategist and pilot Rey allowed me to have an audience with his co-FAITH member, my boyfriend. Shinn said that Rey was explaining important things about the Destiny Plan to him. I wanted to talk about that too. Why is Rey treating me like that? Later Vino told us that the Arzchael EA base had been destroyed by Requiem. Rey confirmed that ZAFT forces did it and that Shinn would have to destroy the next enemy, Archangel, to protect the world that he wished for.

I’ve been enjoying Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid very much. Pity it’s only going to be 13 episodes. The main reason for my turn around on this series is that the Sousuke x Kaname relationship has developed a lot more depth in this series, moving beyond the tired old routine of ‘Sousuke overreacts to the innocuous, Kaname overreacts to his over-reaction by flattening him’ for cheap and dubious laughs.
In this episode, Sousuke is humiliated by Wraith, rubbing salt into the wound of already being distraught at his separation from Kaname. For Kaname, her Whispered senses alert her to the threat from the Xia sisters and suddenly Sousuke’s approach doesn’t seem so paranoid anymore. She then realises to her shock, that the protection that she found mostly chafing and only recently began to appreciate more, has now been stripped away. Excellent character development. Interesting plot developments as well.
Taking her cue from fortune telling and her father’s gift of concert and dinner tickets, Shia asks Rin out on a date. Of course, nothing goes according to plan, particularly as they keep running into friends. But Rin sees her notebook by accident and is touched. They hold hands in the moonlight in their classroom. (Nb: Ep 7 was my first SHUFFLE! post.)

Primula’s cat toy slowly self-destructs. She goes to school to find Rin who gets more deadly stares from the guys. Mayumi declares Primula an addition to the Tsuchimi Lovers, the SHUFFLE! idol group. The gang go underwear shopping for Primula after a rain soak conveys to Rin her lack thereof. The girls except for Kaede and Kareha tease and titillate Rin relentlessly at the lingerie shop. He runs off and buys a cat doll for Primula. Primula smiles.

OP: Managed to get the screencaps from a raw. Much cleaner than a previous abandoned attempt. Shigure Asa-chan gets a fair amount of screentime as one of the contenders for Rin’s love even though this does not really emerge within the series until episode 4 (Nerine’s intuitive question) and 7 (when Asa-chan was confronted with Takisawa’s confession).
