hontou ni sou omou?

Huzzah! I have decided to blog this series afterall, using the character-specific style I use for GSD. Though out goes the first person reporting which I found increasingly cumbersome due to the need to conform with dramatic irony.

Anyhowz this is my own little tribute to the lovely Asa Shigure who fills the tomboy-best-friend-who-secretly-likes-the-guy role. Can’t say I had the best first impression. Her introductory “Haa-low” was extremely grating but this improved tremendously as her seiyuu manages plenty of comedic depth, especially when she is teasing or harassing or flirting with Rin. Like Stripey, to whom I am indebted to for shoving more anime crack my way introducing me to this series, I felt that her “Hontou ni sou omou?” was expressed most beautifully and that her seiyuu does best at these lower registers.

Kazenokoe is doing excellent fansub work for SHUFFLE! and I especially like the very nice and thoughtful touch of adding the girl’s colour code to her sub-titles (green, of course, for Asa-chan). Slight quibble on the translation here. Kareha referred to Midoriba and Rin’s “hot embrace” as a sign, not of their “true love” but “forbidden love” (禁断の愛). She doesn’t seem too bright but she’s funny, especially her “Well, well, well!” (まっまっまっ!) love junkie reaction to any sort of imagined romantic situation.

Asa is sooo touchy-feely, actually, down right grabby when it comes to Rin - Kaede doesn’t seem to mind and Rin doesn’t realise it’s her way of sexually harassing him. :P Actually, “tomboy” might be a bit too much - after all, she does look very girly with the uniform and side hair ribbon (I like, I like vely much…) though this is [insert: her use of the masculine "boku" ], the relatively short hair, the boisterous and loud behaviour as well as enough strength in a backpat to slam a guy into the ground. So these terms are all relative.

In other news, Lisianthus (Sia) wins teh priz3 for Most Irritating Voice. She’s a nice girl and funnily OTT violent girl but that overly saccharine voice and topped with vacuity and a sprinkling of bimbo, augh. [Insert: And talk about instant constructions of houses that four times bigger than a normal one:
