Lunamaria Hawke: I was surprised that another Lacus has appeared but when Shinn and I asked Rey about it, he dismissed the whole thing as nonsense. If something is real, it does not mean it is right and if fake, it does not mean it is evil. Predictably he thinks Chairman Dullindal is right. Then he revealed that Athrun is still alive and piloting the new Justice mobile suit. Meyrin may also be alive! And I heard it from Rey and not Shinn. The real shock was the attack, using a beam cannon and reflectors, that destroyed Januarius 1-4 and December 7-8. Rey said that it was our responsibility as we had failed to capture Djibril. We headed back to space with the Minerva to join the fleet heading to the moon.
Zyl: Real Lacus. Fake Lacus. I think, from how Meer was stunned into silence, that it was quite obvious that Lacus is the real thing. Lunamaria had another flashback about the time when she was spying on Athrun and overheard their conversation about this and this gave her the impetus to ask Rey what Shinn didn’t dare to ask directly - which is the real Lacus? I think she really wants to tell Shinn and Rey about that conversation but had been ordered to forget about her surveillance by Captain Gladys.
Athrun returns. Lunamaria is understandably shocked that Athrun and probably Meyrin are still alive and are onboard the Archangel. The kicker is that she was told by Rey and not Shinn. Personally I think she should have looked more accusingly at Shinn for neglecting to tell her something that he knows is important to her and that it should have provoked the mother of all “we have to talk” conversations. I’m not really sure what to make how Lunamaria’s character is being developed. She can clearly be quite emotional e.g. her jealousy at Meer and Meyrin mooning over Athrun and had snapped at Shinn a few times when she told he said silly things but she can also be the motherly worrier and busybody type e.g. when Saviour got thrashed and Shinn got all uppity. It seems that, at her core, she’s much milder and even too kind for her own good? Frankly I’m a tad disappointed that she didn’t at least scold Shinn for not telling her.
The scenes of destruction of the PLANTS made me feel a bit ill as it clearly depicted civilians being plucked from their ordinary lives and dying en masse. It definitely had more impact that the Junius 7 Break The World incident when we are shown the suffering of civilians in the aftermath but not any of them being killed during the initial impact.
On a lighter note, I’m always amazed at how the pilots can just sit around the lounge and not need to be strapped in even when the Minerva is undergoing high G manoeuvres like blasting out into space.
As Moyism said, Sunrise quit playing with my heart! Meyrin is the cuteness. Plus she’s gotten a moral clarity that Lunamaria now lacks. Omni is speculating that one of the Hawke sisters will die by the end of the series. If that’s the case, I think Meyrin is in the safer position simply because she’s onboard the Archangel. Lunamaria, on the other hand, is a mobile suit pilot and is piloting a Hand Me Down Gundam. And it looks like she’s going to have one of those nekkid Newtype moments with Shinn in the OP. Not a good sign since Kira had one with Fllay after she died in GS and Shinn had one with Stellar right before she died as well. ;_;
So Lunamaria gets to do more piloting next time round and looks like she’s going to kiss Shinn again! Either that or she’s going to strangle him.
GSD updates will be on hiatus for at least 2-3 weeks as I am moving to another city half a world away and it will take a while to set up ADSL and get back into the swing of things.

Well, probably every GSD blogger has commented on Shinn’s dead girls - Mayu and Stellar. And what that portends for Lunamaria. ;_;
