Have been tardy with watching this because I knew, via Omni, that Ep 3 was a cliffhanger and there’s only so much cliffhanging I can take while followning GSD. And Ep 3-4 is one story arc so it would still be quite neat to look at them with one pass. Also have been marathoning my Cardcaptor Sakura DVDs because I’ve been feeling so lousy lately even the alcohol isn’t helping anymore. Ah, CCS *is* the perfect antidote to angst.
The Mithril team goes on a rescue mission that turns into trap in an old Chinese tunnel complex. I rather liked the idea of the politics of a North vs South China because historically it’s happened before (e.g. latter Song Dynasty) and because North and South China are really quite different places in terms of geography, climate, language (dialects), food and the temperament of the people. Due to the elements of surprise and treachery, all looks lost but due to strong teamwork between ops and HQ, they turn the tables on their opponents.

I am starting to think that Mao is an ancestor of Ghost in the Shell’s Motoko Kusanagi if you think of the timeline literally though of course, Motoko is her progenitor if you think about it in the chronology of anime.

The way Tessa plays with her braided hair when she’s thinking is simply adorable. She should try the single side-braid with X-tie sometime e.g. Kotori in Da Capo, Ichijou in School Rumble, Mako in Kannazuki.

Yurisisters. Why oh why do they have to be sisters? I still can’t remember their names.
There have been some complaints about the Chinese used in Ep 3. I don’t speak Chinese very well but I’m ethnic Chinese and it sounds fine. It just sounds like there are a lot of different regional accents being thrown in all over the place, Shanghainese especially.
Another good episode to highlight that Mithril is not invincible but that their comradarie and trust in each other can overcome very serious handicaps or disadvantages.
Yuri-sisters or not.. they had got to be the hottest sisters in animedom now.. hmm ok right after Hisui and Kohaku that is… :)
Oh yeah, come to think of it, I remember seeing loads of Hisui-Kohaku yuri doujin when I was in Akiba and Ikebukuro. And it was actually quite funny as to how cruel Kohaku could be to her own twin sister… -_-;;
