Gundam SEED Destiny 32

Lunamaria Hawke: We’re all twiddling our thumbs as Shinn is the only pilot with a battle ready mobile suit. The X1 Destroy’s rampage through Berlin is interrupted by Freedom and the Archangel. We have front row seats but no popcorn. Shinn discovers that his previous date is the bloodthirsty pilot of the Destroy and tries to soothe the savage beast with lovey dovey promises. Just when she seemed to have calmed down and was considering another date with Shinn, Freedom freaks her out and the rampage resumes with Shinn at the head of the queue for being smashed. Freedom takes down the Destroy when Shinn doesn’t even think to defend himself. Stellar confesses that she likes Shinn and then dies in his arms. Uh oh.

Zyl: In other news, Chaos is destroyed by three Orb Murasames, killing Sting Oakley in the process. Not bad, these guys. Neo is taken prisoner by the Archangel crew who are about to discover something that everyone else already knows from the OP. Thus all four big guns of Djibril’s Phantom Pain crew are now out of action.

Gundam SEED Destiny 31

Lunamaria Hawke: Shinn returns to the Minerva. Captain Gladys gives him a telling off before throwing him into the brig with Rey. Athrun later has an argument with Shinn while visiting his cell. However Chairman Dullindal absolves Shinn of any punishment or blame and he rubs this into Athrun’s face. The X1 Destroy rampages through Eurasia and we’re… well, actually Shinn… is sent to stop it.

Zyl: This is the ep when I start to really really dislike Shinn. Getting off scot-free for capital military offences has really made his head swell. Now apparently he believes that he has someone who understands, supports and endorses him at the top of the leadership. He also believes that his piloting mojo has earned him some of that support. So he feels that those who don’t agree with him and who are weaker than him, specifically Athrun, no longer have any credibility in his mind. Although he is young, angry (with a very big good reasons to be) and being manipulated, I still don’t like him very much. His dilemmas, given his current situation, are much less trying than those Kira experienced in GS.
