Lunamaria Hawke: With Captain Gladys’ permission, Shinn evacuates the pilot of Gaia to Minerva for medical treatment even though Stellar is an enemy combatant. Do not underestimate the power of raging teenage hormones. And now because of what I learnt from following Athrun around, I’m actually avoiding him. Do GUNDAM pilots all have to suffer some kind of emotional trauma? In other news, a shuttle is hijacked by a “Lacus imposter” and escapes into space with the help of Freedom.
Lunamaria Hawke: Athrun refuses to go back to Archangel, Orb or Cagalli. He still feels that his place is in ZAFT. Phew. But it’s sad to see him tormented like that - he can understand their position but cannot agree with them after all. The horrors of the Earth Alliance’s Extended program are being uncovered at the Lobodnia lab. On my way back to the Minerva, I see Athrun and Shinn manage to capture Gaia mostly intact. The injured pilot is, like me, a girl and Shinn seems to know her!
Zyl: Whassup with Sunrise and nekkid characters? And what’s with the Shinn-Athrun back-to-back thing? Are they being paired up? Haha! Or is it just a showcase of how their interactions will be important to this arc of the story?
Extrapolating from the Kira-Lacus relationship (and to a more limited extent, for the Athrun-Cagalli relationship), the main male character needs a lead female character to guide and motivate/manipulate him. That was also the crux of the Kira-Fllay relationship. [MASSIVE SPOILER] And if we transplant the parallels from Kira to Shinn who is, afterall, GSD’s main character… and given what we know happens in ep 32-33, then it’s Stellar and then…?[END SPOILER]
Zyl: I am completely hopeless when it comes to telling the various GUNDAM units apart. Unless they have very different colours. There’s plenty of times when I still get Impulse and Freedom confused. And it mainly boils to down to the fact that I am less interested in GUNDAM design than Stripey’s gf. Who turns out to be a pretty good Gundam model builder. This new OP worries me mainly because it hints at a Shinn-Lunamaria pairing which I am completely opposed to. Argh. (>_<)
Lunamaria Hawke: Athrun takes off from Minerva to try and contact the Archangel. I follow to keep an eye on him. With binoculars, listening equipment and a single seater helicopter. No, I do not need therapy. The good news is that Kira isn’t Athrun’s ex-boyfriend - in fact, he seems to be Lacus’ current boyfriend and is pretty pissed that Coordinators tried to assassinate her. The bad news is that I have just learnt the horrible secret that the new style, non-demure Lacus is an imposter and that knowing this might get me killed. And Cagalli’s awfully grabby with Athrun.

Lunamaria Hawke: The Minerva is damaged. Freedom and Archangel bring forth Cagalli-san, whom I met earlier in the series, to try and get the Orb forces out of the battle. The Earth Alliance and Orb military attacks anyway but Freedom manages to put most of the lead mobile suits out of action. In the chaos and confusion, Heine was killed by the stolen Gaia unit while he and it were trying to take down Freedom. So goodbye Heine after just three episodes. Athrun was completely distracted trying to get his maybe former boyfriend on the comm channels without any success. I see plenty of moping ahead. He so completely needs a girlfriend, you know, like me, to give him some stability and peace of mind.
